Common Blue Eyed Grass is a member of the Iris family, but keeps to a much smaller size so it almost resembles more of a grass (hence the name). As with the Iris, Common Blue Eyed Grass grows in tidy clumps which make it a clean, delicate addition for garden edges you want to stay short. Small blue-purple flowers with a vibrant yellow center poke up above the foliage attracting a variety of pollinators. With a consistent rebloom of flower to seed, Common Blue-Eyed Grass will provide seeds for small songbirds.

Common Blue Eyed Grass prefers well drained sandy soils. It can tolerate shade, but will flower more vigorously with closer to full sun conditions.

Larval Host(s): Eastern Tailed Blue Butterfly, Silver-spotted Skipper
