Canada Anemone is a wonderful low growing flower. A single stem emerges from the center of its deeply lobed leaves to display a delicate white 5 petaled flower.
This plant is very hardy, and in the right setting can fill in large areas quickly, making it a great ground cover. When an area has been filled in with Canada Anemone, you will have a display of large swath of blooms with lovely textured foliage to remain once blooming is done. For optimal spread plant in an area with full sun and moist soil - you may find your small first year plant will triple in size in one growing season. Choose where to plant carefully, as its dense mat of rhizome roots can be difficult to fully move. To keep spread to a minimum, consider planting in a dryer spot with more shade.
Canada Anemone can be mowed and cut back to keep even shorter and potentially have repeat blooms, making it a lovely option to mix into a lawn type setting.
Canada Anemone is a great early pollinator pollen source, especially by small bees such as sweat bees and miner bees, and hoverflies.
