As an early spring bloom, Prairie Smoke is of special value to queen bumble bees that have overwintered and rely on the flower for a food source. Prairie Smoke has deeply lobed green leaves that resemble fern leaves. Rising from their own stalks in groups of three, are nodding pink flowers. The flowers turn upright as light pink smoke-like whisps rise and give a very Dr. Seuss like appearance until the seeds are ready to be blown away in the breeze.

The compact sizing of Prairie Smoke make it a great addition to the edge of walk ways or gardens and also spacing between taller species.
